In this compelling presentation, we will delve into the intricate relationship between food addiction and disordered eating. The presentation will begin by demystifying the concept of food addiction, discussing the neuroscience behind it, and the difficulties of research. We'll then shift our focus to the broader implications of diet culture, exploring how societal pressures, media, and marketing contribute to disordered eating. We will uncover ways in which diet culture perpetuates unrealistic standards and unhealthy relationships with food.
To foster a more compassionate and informed perspective, the presentation will also highlight the importance of recognizing the difference between genuine health concerns and the harmful narratives perpetuated by diet culture. Attendees will gain practical tools for helping clients foster a positive relationship with food, promoting mindful eating, and challenging societal norms that may contribute to disordered eating.
Ultimately, "Breaking Bread" aims to educate professionals on discussing food addiction with clients and techniques to help their clients on their recovery journey while navigating diet culture.
