This interactive workshop will cover the history and function of the Oklahoma Juvenile Justice System. Focus will be placed on how to effectively support at risk youth and families in the system and ways to collaborate with juvenile justice staff to promote successful probation completion while decreasing further youth involvement in the system.
Objectives
About Sheila Stinnett
Sheila Stinnett is the Executive Director of Edmond Family Counseling as well as an Oklahoma Licensed Professional Counselor. She holds two master’s degrees from Oklahoma City University and has 10 years of experience as an Oklahoma school counselor.
A strong advocate for children, Sheila has taken on a variety of different roles at Edmond Family Counseling over the last 25 years working with more than 10,000 young people during her counseling career. Working closely with the Edmond Juvenile Municipal Court she supports at-risk youth and families in her community by facilitating a variety of court mandated psycho-educational groups, providing individual and family counseling services at the request of the court and through frequent collaboration with juvenile court staff.
A highly requested speaker and presenter, Sheila has worked with children, parents, and educators from across the state of Oklahoma on a variety of personal development and mental health related topics.
She is the co-author of the book, A Spotlight on School Counselor Interventions: It’s Not Just About School Schedules, which has been selected as required reading material for several college and university school counseling programs.
