This training provides an overview of effective strategies for treating social anxiety in children and adolescents using exposure-based interventions. Participants will learn how social anxiety presents across developmental stages, the underlying mechanisms that make exposure therapy effective, and practical methods for designing individualized exposure hierarchies. The session will also address common challenges in implementation, including managing avoidance, collaborating with caregivers, and ensuring exposures are developmentally appropriate and engaging. Attendees will leave with actionable tools to enhance their clinical practice with anxious youth.

About Amanda Beck, LPC:
Amanda Beck is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) who graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma where she studied evidence-based treatment techniques and strategies to work with adults, adolescents, and children in a variety of areas. Amanda completed her candidacy and went on to practice as a licensed clinician working with Edmond Family Counseling where she worked primarily with children and adolescents. From there she moved to OCCC working with emerging adults on their journey through college. She joined Edmond Counseling and Professional Development in 2023 where she works with a diverse population with treatment focus in the areas of depression, anxiety related disorders, autism spectrum disorder, trauma, transitional issues, chronic pain, LGBTQA+ issues and support, transitioning from religion, grief, and more. Her primary treatment modalities include cognitive behavioral therapy, written exposure therapy and exposure with response prevention. In her free time Amanda enjoys painting and crafting, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
