I have lived in Oklahoma City most of my life. I graduated from University of Oklahoma in 1985 with a B.S in Elementary Education. I began teaching in Tulsa, Oklahoma and pursued my masters in Counseling at Northeastern State University, graduating in 1988.
I became a school counselor in Sapulpa and in 1990, I moved back to Oklahoma City. In 1993, I completed the requirements for my LPC. Since 2004, I have worked both in the school systems and in the private sector as a therapist and a crisis counselor. In 2011, I fulfilled the requirements to become an LPC Supervisor. I have extensive training in play therapy. My practice has includes working with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and sexual abuse.
My goals in both the school system and in private therapy is to give a child, a teen, an adult and/or a family a place where their voice matters. It is a place to resolve past issues, trauma, and grief so that they can feel safe in the world in which they live.
As a practice, I utilize client centered and Cognitive Behavioral therapy to work on the issues to assist clients in feeling secure in their environment. In addition to providing therapy, I work as a crisis counselor at Ninnekah Public Schools. I have been happily married for 32 years. I have two beautiful daughters and three dogs. My hobbies include traveling with my family and friends, gardening and knitting.
