Counseling Adolescents: Building Therapeutic Connections

Presented by Ariana Lankford, LMFT

Working with adolescents can be the most frustrating AND rewarding part of a clinical practice. In this workshop, you will learn tried and true methods of building connection and trust, maintaining boundaries and confidentiality, and ways to navigate the parental component of counseling teens.

Objectives:

  • Build competency and comfort in working with adolescents.
  • Develop methods to connect with and build trust with adolescent clients.
  • Gain avenues to the hard conversations.

About Ariana Lankford, LMFT:

Ana became an LMFT in 2012, graduating with her master's from UCO. In her practice she has worked with adolescents in a residential treatment setting, private practice, and in her current role as Executive Director of Teen Recovery Solutions, the state of Oklahoma's only high school serving teens working to be sober. Additionally, she has extensive experience with Inner Child work and trained in the Post Induction Therapy model developed by Pia Mellody. She has led intensive week long inner child healing workshops, and is a passionate believer in the capacity all have to heal.
