Ethics of Counseling and Supervision Via Telehealth

This continuing education training focuses on the ethical considerations involved in providing counseling services and clinical supervision through telehealth platforms. As Tele-Behavioral Health continues to expand across the continuum of care, this course will examine its role in both direct clinical services and clinical supervision, with particular attention to ethical practice in technology-enabled settings. Participants will review core ethical principles that guide counseling and clinical supervision and explore how these principles apply. The training will address common ethical challenges encountered in telehealth environments, including confidentiality, informed consent, boundaries, competence, and risk management. 


Objectives: 

  • Understand the role of Tele-Behavioral Health in the continuum of clinical services, including clinical supervision.
  • Identify ethical principles utilized in clinical supervision and be able to apply them to Technology Enhanced services.
  • Identify professional codes of conduct and tech standards for various professional disciplines 


About Christina Boyd, LSCSW, LCAC:

Christina is a clinical social worker as well as a clinical addictions counselor who has worked in the behavioral health field for over 29 years. She is currently an Associate Professor of the Practice for the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare and also serves as the Liaison to Rural Communities. She is a collaborating faculty member with KU Medical Center Project ECHO. She is a master trainer for the ATTC network and serves as a content expert on prevention and treatment with the Opioid Response Network State Targeted Response. She continues to reside in Western Kansas and is passionate about equity of health resources in rural areas as she continues to pursue her mission of helping people find their
